Jane  Lydbury   British 1953-

Jane Lydbury, born in Blackheath, attended Blackheath High School and Newnham College, Cambridge. She studied Graphic Design at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts (1979-1981) where she was taught wood engraving by John Lawrence. She has been a free-lance illustrator and printmaker since 1982, doing a year of post graduate studies at the Camberwell Press. Her sources of inspiration are Folk tales and Medieval art, especially book illumination and 17th Century literature. She has illustrated a number of books and book jackets. She was a member of the Greenwich printmakers but she is now a member of the South Bank printmakers and a Member of the Society of Wood engravers. Besides wood engraving, her work includes watercolours and colour printing. Her work regularly gets chosen for the Summer Exhibition at the RA Summer show.
