Richard Eurich British 1903-1992
Richard Eurich, painter,born in 1903 in Bradford, Yorkshire. Eurich Studied at Bradford College of Art 1920–4 and at the Slade School 1924–6 under Henry Tonks. His first one-man exhibition, of drawings was at the Goupil Gallery 1929 and in 1933, he had a show of of paintings at the Redfern Gallery which was so successful that the Redfern offered him a contract to act as his London dealer. His association with the gallery lasted for twenty-five years and he had a further fifteen exhibitions there. Eurich settled in the New Forest 1934. He had been exhibiting at the New English Arts Club from 1927,but became a member in 1943. He was made an Official War artist to the Admiralty 1940–5. It was as a War Artist that he became elected to the A.R.A. 1942 becoming a full member of the Royal Academy in 1953. He taught at the Camberwell School of Art since 1949. A Retrospective exhibition was held at Bradford in 1951
