A collection of letters from Anthony and Richard Slade to Sven Berlin from 1930 to 1941. Three autograph letters from Slade dated Oct.15 1930; Nov.16th 1930 and Oct. 21st 1931. All encouraging the young artist (born 1911) to continue his work at drawing and the life-class. One enclosing an etching (included with this lot). All addressed from 3 Marine View Hove. Four autograph letters from his brother Richard Slade one dated 27.9.41 informin Sven of the death of Anthony Slade and three further letters from 1965 and 1970 discussing family matters. Sven was related via his mother to the Slade family. Catalogue of the exhibition ‘Anthony Slade’ at the Redfern Gallery, London April 2 -April 24, 1937, a folding sheet and the catalogue of the exhibitions (1) Water-colours by Anthony Slade (2) French Drawings and Water-Colours at The Leicester Galleries, London April 1934, this 24mo staple-bound, the staple now rusted and sheets loose, includes a short biography and 34 items listed. The etching is in a home made mount, the image 87x67mm, the sheet 175x170mm. worn and heavily creased, signed in pencil ‘Anthony Slade’ and signed, dated 1932 and titled ‘Un Vaudeville’ in the plate. It is a scene of dancing girls viewed through a theatre prosencium. Additionally inscribed in pencil on a seperate mounted sheet to reverse of plate ‘Amitie from Anthony’.
