The etching and drypoint is printed in black ink on hand made wove paper made in 1982. This is a unsigned printers proof, purchased directly from the printer and is not signed. In excellent condition.

Provenance : Richard Michell (who worked for Birgit at the Print Studio at Charlotte Street). This is one of the proofs he took from the plate before printing the edition for Hockney.
The plate was made by Hockney for the edition ‘A Tribute to Birgit Skiold 1923-1982’ , published by The Birgit Skiold Memorial Trust. The box set was a limited edition of 25 copies with contributions by 118 international artists who had benefited from Birgit Skiold’s printing workshop at 28 Charlotte Street before her untimely death in 1982. This was made up of three volumes. The Hockney etching was placed in for volume two.
