Description

Edouard Pignon book titled ‘Blasons’ written by Maurice Sceve and illustrated by Pignon, published by Raoul Mortier in Paris, 1945. The book is loose, as issued, in wrappers with card covers and slip case. 28 pp. The book is illustrated with six  ‘lithographies de Edouard Pignon, dont 5 à pleine page’,  printed by Mourlot. This is number 1 one of 5 copies only which have a separate suite of the plates printed on japon paper, each being signed and numbered 1/5. In addition to the lithographs , the folio has SEVEN ORIGINAL DRAWINGS by Edouard Pignon,  of which only 5 are called for. The drawings are all head or head and shoulder studies and are related to prints in the book. All but one are signed and dated 1944 or 1945 by Pignon.
