Edward Ardizzone  First Edition  ‘Nicholas and the Fast Moving Diesel.’

[1948] First Edition, first printing. Small folio. 35pp. Bound in pictorial paper covered boards. Comprises a title-page and thirty-five pages of text and coloured lithographs, the whole thing a reproduction of the author’s manuscript.

Boards rubbed at tips of corners, lightly spotted and chipped at spine ends with short tears to gutter extremities, lower spine and corners bumped.. Inside endpapers are lightly spotted and discoloured from the dust wrapper; inscription in ink on front end paper, else, save for a few light finger marks to the occasional leaf margin, there is a small inner tear on one page and a segment has cracked a little. The bump to lower spine continues throughout the book in the text. With the pictorial dust wrapper, un-clipped, somewhat soiled, dusty, heavily foxed; edge worn with several fairly small portions of loss.
