Eric Gill wood engraving printed on hand made wove paper. Initialled and with ‘proof’ written in pencil. In very good condition.

Reference Physic 284: This wood engraving was used to illustrated page 17 of ‘Sonnets and Verses‘ by Enid Clay published by the Golden Cockerel Press. It was later used as plate 67 of ‘Engravings by Eric Gill’ published by Douglas Cleverdon in 1929.

Physic also states that Gill did an edition of 25 signed and numbered by the artist.

Provenance: Residue of the Golden Cockerel collection. Purchased at Bonham’s, Sale no. 20751, in 2013.
