Item details

‘The Pharisee and the Publican’  (Physick 806, Cleverdon 502, 89)  was made as an illustration and the initial letter ‘T’ on page 189 of ‘The Four Gospels’. No. 78 of the publications of the Golden Cockerel Press, 1931. The woodcut was subsequently printed from the original woodblock for the Douglas Cleverdon edition ‘Engravings 1928-1933 by Eric Gill’, printed by Gill and Hague, published by Faber & Faber Ltd in 1934, as mentioned in Physick. This was printed in a small edition size.
