The wood engraving is signed and numbered 10 of 15 copies by Eric Gill in pencil to lower margins. Printed on handmade paper in a small edition size, therefore scarce. In good condition.

Reference: Physic 662; Cleverdon 365, state that this wood engraving was finally used as an illustration on page 7 of ‘Canticum Canticorum’, published by the Cranach press in 1931. Physic mentions that there was an edition of 15 copies, of which this is one, printed on japon wove paper.
The edition published in 1931 was of a small edition size of 268 copies printed in French & German. Eric Gill made eleven wood-engravings and eighteen wood-engraved initials for the publication.
