Eric Gill wood engraving for ‘Canterbury Tales’ printed by Gill and Hague for Douglas Cleverdon edition ‘Engravings 1928-1933 by Eric Gill’. Unsigned as issued, published by Faber & Faber Ltd in 1934. The sheet has some very light foxing and old soft handling folds in the margins, else good.

The wood cut was used as a illustration on page 107, volume 1 of Chaucer’ ‘Canterbury Tales’ which was published by the Colden Cockerel Press in 1929. The woodcut was subsequently printed from the original woodblock for the Douglas Cleverdon edition ‘Engravings 1928-1933 by Eric Gill’, page 28, printed by Gill and Hague, published by Faber & Faber Ltd in 1934. This edition is rare and was printed in a small edition size.
