An original wood engraving printedin red ink from the original block for Engravings by Eric Gill’. Published by Douglas Cleverdon, printed by The Fanfare Press, 1929. One of 400 copies printed on paper specially manufactured for this edition with the number ‘14’ in top right corner as issued. There is some impurities in the paper which are visable as dark brown marks, please look at photographs carefully. Not mounted / matted.

Reference: Physick 89, Ditchling 84, 14.    First state, proof of a design after a crucifix in a window of York Minster, 1917. The final state, after a crucifix in a window of York Minster 1917. The block was subsequently used for illustration, printed in red, as Plate 14 in   ‘Engravings by Eric Gill’, published by Douglas Cleverdon, printed by The Fanfare Press, 1929.
