Description

Eric Gill wood engraving, signed ‘Eric G’, printed on soft japon paper. Not numbered. Mounted with see through corner tabs. Printed in 1923. There are three grey spots in the sheet and one is  in the image to the left of Teresa nose, which is appears to be an imperfection in the paper, else very good.

Felix Dennis was an English publisher, poet, spoken-word performer and philanthropist. His company, Dennis Publishing, pioneered computer and hobbyist magazine publishing in the United Kingdom. One of the three editors of ‘Oz’ Magazine.

Reference: Physick 255 (D224)  Portraits, head and shoulders, looking left, 1923. The block was subsequently used for an illustration on page 20 of Wood-Engravings, No. 44 of the publications of the St. Dominic’s Press, Ditchling, 1924. No mention of an edition size.
