The Eric Gill wood engraving was originally made and printed as an illustration on page 26 of ‘The Song of Songs’. No. 31 of the publications of the Golden Cockerel Press, 1927. The woodcut was subsequently printed from the original woodblock, page 7, for the Douglas Cleverdon edition ‘Engravings 1928-1933 by Eric Gill’, printed by Gill and Hague, published by Faber & Faber Ltd in 1934. This edition is rare and was printed in a small edition size. There is some light foxing which affects the image, please examine the photo carefully.
