Eric Gill rare proof wood engraving printed on fine japon paper, 1921. First state of 2. Unsigned . In very good condition. Photographed through a plastic bag, there is a very light fold in paper due to the nature of the paper.

Physick 191. 1921. No impression was included in the gift of the artists files to the Victoria and Albert Museum. There is no record of the edition size. This first state differs from the signed impression which was offered for sale by William Weston Gallery, London,in 1983. (Catalogue ‘Original Print Making in Britain (Part ll) 1890-1939’ no.81.) The impression in for sale in 1983 in the possession of William Weston is signed but has had additional work on the block compared to this impression. The lower edged has a scalloped design; addition of pubic hair and Eric Gill’s monogram in the lower right corner.
