Sm.4to. Spiral bound notebook. 72 pp lined paper. Extensively filled-in, with pencil and ink notes, drawings, colour onlays and original photographs. Begins 25 May 1969, ends 7 July 1969. Chemical analysis of colours and ink, with ideas for paintings etc.. ”30 Julne-1 July Moore’s jury looks un-propiciate;so not much hope there-best to concentrate on completing a good set of paintings and having a show, somewhere, the Redmark Gallery seems to be deferred already-but redfern of the new Schuster gallery would be OK.’ Eric Peter Torbett Finlay, born 1930-1996 (artist) trained at the Slade. In 1958 he exhibited at the Paris Biennale representing the British Council. Finlay was a skilled draughtsman, Eric worked in Porthleven during the period of the Summer Painting School administered by Michael Canney, and the Porthleven Group’s exhibition at the Porthleven Gallery, an old china-clay warehouse on the quayside (c1965-6). Eric taught lithography at Chelsea School of Art.
