Francis Bott painted ‘Composition’ (Henze 1024)

Description

Francis Bott mixed media on card. Signed and dated ’66 by the artist in ink. The sheet is attached to thick card and has old crease marks in all four corners, which are more noticeable in the bottom right corner. In the lower left corner there is a small spot of paint which has peeled off, otherwise in good condition.

Provenance: Purchased at the ‘Works from the  Studio of Francis Bott (1904-1998)’ Sale, Christie’s, London, 16th November 2006.

‘Bott’s style continued to develop throughout his career and in the 1960’s and the 1970’s, he embarked on two major pictorial series, namely Espaces Concertés and Cathédrales.
