Description

Francis Bott painting in acrylic on wood. Although not titled or signed, it is dated ’69  in pencil. There are some surface marks on the painting which are raised which appear to have been from another painting leaning against it whilst wet. So please look at photographs carefully. The lower left corner is chipped.

Provenance: Purchased at the ‘Works from the  Studio of Francis Bott (1904-1998)’ Sale, Christie’s, London, 16th November 2006.

‘Bott’s style continued to develop throughout his career and in the 1960’s and the 1970’s, he embarked on two major pictorial series, namely Espaces Concertés and Cathédrales.
