First UK edition. 1958. Originally published by Basil Blackwell in 1934, this is a new edition with Ardizzone illustrations.Square 8vo. 99 pages. 1st edition. Bound in light grey cloth with blue lettering on spine and a small design on front cover. Dust wrapper is clipped, slightly dusty with some indentations, creases and tears . Illustrated with fine quality black and white illustrations by Edward Ardizzone. On front loose endpaper is the Surrealist bookplate of Andrew Murray. Endpaper s a little foxed, else very good copy.

Provenance: Andrew Murray, Director of Mayor Gallery, Cork Street, London. The Mayor Gallery exhibited Ardizzone s work in the 1960 s . Andrew Murray lent his personal collection of books and prints etc. to the travelling exhibition by Middlesbrough Museum in 1982.
