‘Connemara’ by John Piper

John Piper watercolour painted in 1969. The large watercolour is a seascape showing the bay. Although the painting looks quite abstract in nature, the bay with the rocks can be seen. The watercolour is signed in the lower right corner and dated by artist on the verso.  There is a vertical fold to the right margin, John Piper had signed the painting after this fold; his signature has not been affected the same way as the watercolour has.

John Piper did several watercolours in Connemara during this period which Marlborough Gallery exhibited. Connemara is located in the West of Ireland in County Galway.
