David Coachworth joined the Victoria and Albert Department of Circulation in the late 1950 s as a museum assistant. In the early 1970 s he was involved in numerous exhibitions including International Ceramics which was exhibited in 1972. It seems likely that his friendship with Lucie Rie developed during their collaboration with the exhibition.
