Lucie Rie card held within an envelope addressed to David Coachworth, Victoria and Albert Museum, Cromwell Road, London,SW7. Dear David, it was good of you to write to me-I am grateful for it. I will give Jane your message. My love to you Lucie. I am surmising that this is a reply to a letter from David Coachworth regarding Hans Copers death on the 16th of June 1981 as his wife is called Jane and the date matches.

Illustrated with twelve black and white illustrations of photographs of her ceramics. Included is a compliment slip form the publishers and with David Coachman’s monogram in top right corner of title page.Cover little grubby else very good. Size 9 x 8 inches( 29 x 21cm)

Ephemera included are Austerity and Delicacy photocopies extracted from Harpers & Queen January 1985; Small sketches of Lucie Rie pots with a description of glazes and colourants/ oxides used in their making in David Coachworths s hand writing; a sheet from the V & A research on a Wiener Werkstatten with notes on Rie s work being illustrated in Gordon Forsyth Book Twentieth Century Ceramics, London 1936. A small collection.
