Mike Dodd, a studio pottery vase, with combed decoration. The vase has been thrown on a wheel with a comb decoration added and a potters seal to foot. The vase has been made in a coarse clay with a high iron content. The pot’s glaze, possibly an ash glaze, is a green glaze on one side and slightly milky on the other. This is due to either a uneven firing where the pot has got hotter on one side than the other, or if Mike does a reduction firing, the pot has reduced on one side and been left oxidised on the other, it happens. Still a very fine substantial piece.
