Philip Sutton ‘Samoa’



Lithograph printed in colour on J.Green hand made paper with the Curwen Press blind stamp. The lithograph was printed in 1966 and is signed and numbered by the artist in pencil. The print is 248 of 250 copies and is in very good clean condition.

This is one of Philip Sutton’s earliest and most important prints. It comes from a series of six, This print forms part of a series of six prints that Sutton made after his  travels to Australia and Fiji in 1963–64. His wife, Heather made a film of Philip Sutton Working in Fiji.  This print is represented in the Tate Gallery’s permanent collection, which can be viewed online or by appointment with the Tate. It  was presented by Curwen Studio through the Institute of Contemporary Prints in 1975.
