Sandra Blow Collage on Board with Sandpaper

Description

Collage on board by Sandra Blow. In brown, green and white, the brown fibreboard background and green card elements are painted in watercolour.  The sandpaper and card are stapled together. There is damage to the board on right hand-edge, un-examined out of frame.

Item details

These Sandra Blow works were all acquired at the Studio sale. They are mostly late period collages; the family advised us these were among the very last works she produced. The comparison with Matisse is apposite, she was arranging pre-coloured paper or card into collages in the same manner as the “papiers découpés” to which Matisse devoted his last years.
