Description

Stanley Spencer photograph titled ‘Stan and Mary Drawing Each Other’.  The photograph is full size for the printing of the auto lithograph of the same title. This would have been used in the printing of it. The photograph is discoloured with a small tear in the top margin, well outside the image. Although we have kept it flat for years, the photographic paper is a lot of light handling folds from use.

The ‘Stan and Mary drawing each other’ lithographs were produced after Stanley Spencer’s death – Trivick produced a number of lithographs from drawings in the collection to be sold to raise funds for the Gallery. The more sought after lithographs are those that Spencer produced under Trivick’s guidance at the Regent St Poly: The Marriage at Cana, Retrieving a Ball and Caroline Pullen.
