Item details

Reference Moorehead and Black 35: Paysages Urbains. Suite de six pointes Seches’ Portfolio of six prints published by Editions des Quatre Chemins, Paris, 1930.  Limited edition of 50, plus artist’s proofs inscribed A-F. Printed by Paul Haasen on B.F.K.paper. The titles were assigned to the prints by Hayter for the purposes of indentification many years after they were made. No titles were inscribed on the prints and the portfolio contains no list of titles.

Although the artist has given the title ‘Berges du Canal‘, the reference book gives the title ‘Rue de la Villette’.  Like most of these publications, I suspect many were not sold as sets as originally intended. But the sets were split up and the prints were assigned titles later and  sold sperately over time. This can explain the drypoint having two different titles. See Moorhouse and Black reference above.
