First UK Edtion. 64 pp. In the publisher’s green cloth, with title in gilt on spine and an unclipped decorated dust-wrapper.On front blank endpaper SIGNED BY EDWARD ARDIZZONE in ink, below which is the Surrealist bookplate of Andrew Murray . Twenty three poems illustrated throughout with delightful line and colour-wash drawings by Graves’ friend Edward. Minimal wear to dust wrapper and book. Fine. Smaller in height than the USA Doubleday edition printed in the same year.
Size 22 x16cm (8.5 x 6.5 inches).
Provenance: Andrew Murray, Director of Mayor Gallery, Cork Street, London. The Mayor Gallery exhibited Ardizzone s work in the 1960 s . Andrew Murray lent his personal collection of books and prints etc. to the travelling exhibition by Middlesbrough Museum in 1982.
