12mo. Bound in yellow cloth with illustrations in black on front and back covers and black text on spine. 12mo. 32pp. illustrated throughout by Edward Ardizzone with black and white line drawings. A verse picture-book tale of a boy called Jackie Thimble, who is one foot four, and one day disappears into a round pillar postal box. As always, Ardizzone’s artwork is enchanting. On front blank endpaper is the Surrealist bookplate of Andrew Murray. Corners on cover a little bumped but clean. Inside the text has some light handling folds with the odd small mark, Dust wrapper faded at spine, price clipped,very light wear but has been well protected for a long time. A very good copy.

Andrew Murray, Director of Mayor Gallery, Cork Street, London. The Mayor Gallery exhibited Ardizzone s work in the 1960 s. Andrew Murray lent his personal collection of books and prints etc. to the travelling exhibition by Middlesbrough Museum in 1982.
