First UK edition. (First published in USA 1965) Small 8vo. 39pp. Bound in blue cloth boards with silver gilt titles to spine. Illustrated with Black & white illustrations. . On front loose endpaper is the Surrealist bookplate of Andrew Murray. SIGNED by the artist, Edward Ardizzone. The dustjacket is clipped, a little worn, dusty eighth some old light crease along the top edged. Inside the book four pages have a brown spot, the endpapers are fractionally dusty with a little thumbing, otherwise fairly clean, not pristine as some of the other books in the collection, but very acceptable. A poignant Christmas story for children by the bestselling author and illustrated by Kate Greenaway Award winner, Edward Ardizzone.

Provenance: Andrew Murray, Director of Mayor Gallery, Cork Street, London. The Mayor Gallery exhibited Ardizzone s work in the 1960 s . Andrew Murray lent his personal collection of books and prints etc. to the travelling exhibition by Middlesbrough Museum in 1982.
