Item details

All art  students at the time not only studied from live models and still lifes, they also studied by drawing from casts of sculptures of the great masters. (I did when I attended Camberwell.)  This must have been done when Gear won his traveling  scholarship and took advantage of the opportunity of visiting and studying the art in the splendid Italian churches.
