Printed by J. Crowder , Warwick-Square ; for J. Johnson, NO. 72, ST. Paul’s-Church-Yard 1800 iv,[4],168p. ; 12°. Bound in marble boards with leather spine with title on spine in gilt. Title page; Preface (iii-vi); Introduction (vii-viii) ; Contents, (two leaves); 168pp. Collated appears to be complete. Endpaper watermark is dated 1822, possibly bound in 1822. Boards are worn but holding. Inside the title page is badly cropped affecting some of the title page , inside there is also cropping manly along the sheets side edges as opposed to the top and bottom edges but the text is readable and follows through so nothing is missing. But some of the pages are worn and some frayed up to page 11. First printed in 1788 without the William Blake engravings, the 1791 edition was sold with or without the William Blake engravings and with Mary Wollstonecraft name added as author, in the 1788 edition the author is anonymous. This particular edition is without engravings. Mary Wollstonecraft, an early feminist wrote A Vindication on the Rights of Women in 1792 and was the mother of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, the authoress of Frankenstein. Original stories from Real Life is the only book that Wollstonecraft wrote for children after her experience as working as a governess for the daughters of Lord Kingsborough in Ireland.
