George Elmer Browne painting is a small plein-air on a wooden panel. Framed in its original hand carved wooden frame with a brown velvet trim and brass label at lower front. On the verso the label reads ‘Chapellier Galleries’, New York. The number ‘12A’, and the label stating ‘paintings of quality since 1916’ and the name plate with the artists dates indicates that the painting was exhibited and framed after 1946. The original title of ‘Rocks and Surf’ has been crossed off in pencil and replaced by another title ‘The Sea’. It has recently been cleaned by a professional conservator and the frame restored, therefore in good condition. Not dated possibly circa 1930.
Painting size 15 x 18 inches (approx 380 x 440 mm)
