Kenneth Arthur Lindley RE, British wood engraver, was born in London and studied at Ealing School of Art 1943-49, under James Bostock from 1946. He continued his studies at Hornsey School of Art and Crafts under Norman Janes 1949-50. He became a teacher in 1950 lecturing at Loughborough School of Art 1950-57 and at Swindon School of Art 1957-65. Lindley became Head of Wakefield School of Art in 1966, transfering to Herefordshire College of Art as Principal in 1971. He was elected ARE in 1959, becoming a Fellow in 1975. He joined the Society of Wood Engravers [SWE] in 1960, later becoming the driving force behind the re-foundation of The Society of Wood Engravers in 1984. Among his published writings was a book on the Victorian commercial engravers entitled “The Woodblock Engravers” 1970.
