Angus Suttie ‘Cup’ painted in blue/ grey glaze made circa 1985

Description

Angus Suttie Cup shaped vessel.

Hand built in terracotta clay and painted in blue/ grey underglaze with a design in yellow and red stains, finished with silver lustre. With a label with the number ’36’. Believed to have been purchased in Amsterdam in the mid 1980’s by the previous owner. As several pieces from the same collection have the same number, this possibly relates to a customer number rather than an exhibition number. In very good condition.

Provenance: Private collector and work Colleague of the artist when they both worked at the National Theatre.

They are behind glass, in a showcase, in a museum but giving out such as sense of uncomplicated rightness.’
